I mentioned in a previous post that I inlaid a logo in the headstock. I filled the spaces around the inlay with epoxy dyed black. I routed the cavity for the inlay a bit oversized for two reasons. First, my only remaining Dremel routing bit is dull and doesn't cut well any more. Second, the plan is to paint this guitar black. The plan is to spray the headstock black, then scrape the black off the logo, after which I'll clear coat it. If I scrape a little too much black off the logo, it won't be visible because of the black epozy filler.
In this picture, you'll notice in the background my order that I just received: Mixol black pigment, various dyes, and a gallon of EM6000 waterbased lacquer. I ordered all this stuff to cover me for the next several projects I am planning out.
After sanding the black epozy level with the headstock, I tightened up the neck and glued the fingerboard extension to the guitar. Then I sanded the entire guitar starting with 60 grit, then to 100, 150, and finishing with 220. I wiped the entire guitar down with a damp paper towel to raise the grain. Tomorrow I'll sand theguitar again. Then it will be time for grain filling and finishing!
