The past couple days I managed to get the sides, tail block, and neck block glued together. Since I am not working with a wooden mold, nor do I have the tools to make any curved clamping cauls, I was not able to glue the sides, tail block, and neck block together all at the same time. In order to get the sides to conform to the curves of the tail/neck block properly, I glued the sides a half at a time using as many clamps as I could fit on the joint. First I glued the bass side to the neck block, and the other side to the tail block. Once those joints were dry, I glued the remaining side to the tail block, leaving the cutaway side unattached to the neck block. This morning I glued that last joint, giving me completed sides. The sides have a bit of spring back to them, so if the sides look a little mis-shapen in the pics, they are! I will be able to correct this when I put the sides back into the mold and add the kerfing, etc....
While glue on the sides was drying, I had plenty of time to do other things, so I used this time to unpack the top bracing and try laying everything out to see what it would look like:
At the same time I also glued the X-braces together so that when it comes time to glue the braces, I already have one step completed.
That's it for now! Can't wait to do some more work on it!
