Like many of my projects lately, this one has been stagnant. This has been for a couple reasons. First of all, I have been in no hurry to finish this guitar so I have been patiently looking to see if I can find original parts but to no avail. I don't think it will be possible to find replacements for any of the parts I am missing, not with the rarity of this model. Due to this, I have been considering different ideas on how to complete the guitar without making any major changes to the guitar, or at least nothing that cannot be reversed. I think I finally have a plan of action.
Pickups. I have one original pickup and pickup ring. These will be put aside but I am going to install a new set of pickups that will not require any severe modifications. From what I can tell, I should have no problem installing a set of Gibson P90 pickups. I will make a set of ebony pickup rings the same shape as the original rings. For a bridge, I will use a Gibson tune-o-matic with an ebony base to correct the height problem I was having with the Bigsby bridge. Tremolo arms are probably the only parts that I might have a change to find but most likely I will either make one or use a simple Strat bar (the thread will fit, I already tried it).
I think this will make for a nice guitar when I am finished!
