I haven't really done any work on the Burns since I got it so I thought I'd get back to it today.
The internals of the vibrato system were missing, but my machinist father helped me out and rebuilt the unit and machined up the missing parts. It looks like new and works very smoothly. Now I just have to find an arm somewhere!

Today I mounted the rebuilt vibrato system, buffed up the finish and cleaned the guitar, leveled the frets, and glued a couple of loose sections of binding.
Also, I purchased a Bigsby Sorkin bridge, thinking it would be a close visual match for the original bridge. As you can see below it looks great on the guitar, but it will not work as-is. This bridge is not high enough to work with the neck angle of this guitar! I may be able to make it work if I make up a shim to place between the guitar body and the bridge, I'm not sure yet. Have to think this one through....
