The top was in pretty rough shape at the bridge location so I wanted to replace this wood with new wood by inlaying some new spruce into this location. I started by masking off the area. I used my Dremel to route out this location approximately 1.5 mm deep. This way, I didn't route al lthe way through the original top. I cleaned up all the edges with a chisel and razor blade.
I also plugged the original bridge pin holes.
I made up a piece of spruce to tightly fit the cavity I routed out and glued/clamped it in place.
After the glued dried I carefully made the new spruce flush with the top. When I make the bridge, I will make it oversized so that it glues to the new wood, as well as some of the original wood.
